Huia

The huia is an extinct species of New Zealand wattlebird, with the last sighting in 1907. They were known for its bill shape, sheer beauty and special place in the Māori culture. With their feathers being worn as head adornments to signify chiefs and people of great mana (authority and power). The huia was exchanged as a gift of friendship around the country.
